Drama class

What's that?
People continually play roles in everyday life. Depending on the situations and the people around you, you can choose from a range of options to achieve your goals - to convince, beg, force, tempt, support, intimidate, cajole, manipulate, etc. To feel, to want, to think, and to act are the basic ingredients from which you choose a certain attitude, a certain behaviour. It is not the words, but about the world that underlies those words that creates the behaviour we display. In other words, it is an acting course. In groups of 10 participants we work on a number of elementary acting skills, and these will prove to have a strong link with a number of important work aspects - switching, empathy, concentration, presentation, getting something done by someone else, dealing with feedback, co-operation and improvisation.

This workshop is extremely practical - we work on your expressive skills and your empathy by means of improvisation and tasks based on personal experiences and using texts. You learn to deal with pace, rhythm, and dynamics in words and gestures and you receive feedback on your ability to reach those around you. You learn to challenge your boundaries, to do things you wouldn't normally dare, you learn to play with conflicts, with hidden talents, and you will be treated like an actor. Acting is playing and you determine how real that is and what it tells you about the way you operate in daily life.

When do you use it?
A drama class offers the participants the opportunity to play and to explore boundaries. As everyone needs to conquer their stage fright, it is also an intense group experience that fosters a strong team spirit. By increasing the range of personal styles, the employer or the manager improves his or her effectiveness. Learning through acting is our motto. How can you play your role to best effect?

What are the gains?
With drama methods teach people to direct their own behaviour, to build up self-confidence, to overcome blocks, and to let the other person shine. They learn and experience what authentic behaviour means. You play around with your own boundaries and experience how you can direct yourself in the best way. You practise improvisation, switching between emotions, and reading non-verbal behaviour. You spend a day looking at yourself from a completely different angle.
